Temperature sensors types
There are three main types of temperature sensors:
- RTD (Resistance Temperature Detectors): made of pure metals (Pt, Ni or Cu) They are all PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient): PT100, PT1000, ...
- Thermistor: made of metal oxide mixtures (semiconductor materials). It can have a NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) or a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient).
- Thermocouple (Seebeck effect):
- Type K (-180 to 1200 degC)
- Type T (-250 to 350 degC)
